India captain Virat Kohli and his Australia counterpart Steve Smith will meet prior to the third Test to ensure the rest of the series is "played in the right spirit".
A joint statement from the governing bodies of the two countries confirmed the skippers will hold talks to address "issues which have emanated during the course of the second Test in Bangalore".
No action was taken against either side by the ICC following that match but the captains were "reminded of their responsibilities".
The chief executive of the BCCI, Rahul Johri and Cricket Australia's James Sutherland met in Mumbai on Thursday and "agreed the importance of bringing back the focus to the game".
Sutherland said: "A series between India and Australia is bound to generate considerable excitement for fans in both the countries.
"On the field the two teams are fierce competitors who represent their countries with pride. As we have seen this week in Bangalore, with so much at stake, tensions can bubble over.
"We have agreed that it is in the best interests of the game to put these differences aside and clear the way for the focus to be on the cricket, and the remaining matches of the series."
