Trent Boult says bowling out England in just over 20 overs felt "surreal" as New Zealand enjoyed an incredible first day in Auckland.

The hosts only needed two bowlers, Boult (6-32) and Tim Southee (4-25), to skittle England out for 58 - before reaching 175-3 when they batted themselves, to assume a dominant position.

Trevor Bayliss says England's players looked leaden-footed as they collapsed to 58 all out in Auckland

Boult's figures were a career best and the fast bowler said: "It was very enjoyable to get out there and get the ball swinging around.

"Probably not in our wildest dreams did we think we would win the toss and get them out in the first session.

"The main thing was trying to pitch the ball up, trying to get the ball moving as much as we could, and giving it the best chance to swing.

"I don't think it swung that much. The cliche of it just doing enough is pretty much what happened."

England's final total was something of a recovery, the tourists having slumped to 23-8 in the 14th over - Boult removing Joe Root and Ben Stokes for ducks amidst the chaos.
