Marcus Trescothick gives a batting demo on how to play swing bowling as a left-handed batsman

England's openers have had a torrid time in swinging conditions against India, with Ishant Sharma, in particular, causing them problems.

The Indian seamer has had great success against Alastair Cook and Keaton Jennings from around the wicket and swinging the ball away.

With the rain falling at Taunton, fellow left-hander Marcus Trescothick took the opportunity to head to the nets with Rob Key and show just how difficult it is to deal with the moving ball, especially at the pace of Sharma, and offer a few tips on how to counter the threat.

The former England opener initially showed how he would set up and the approach he would take at the start of his innings, and then explained the way his tactics might change once he had reached 40 or 50.

Should the England openers see off the seamers, batting does not necessarily get any easier with Virat Kohli able to bring on Ravichandran Ashwin.

Trescothick also demonstrated how he would try and play the off-spin of R Ashwin

The off-spinner has bowled Cook twice in this series with two brilliant deliveries. So, having given his swing demo, Trescothick was back at the crease to show how he built his reputation as such a good player of spin.
