Grace Harris smashed a Women's Big Bash League-record 42-ball century for Brisbane Heat against Melbourne Stars.

The Heat opener's hundred was the second-quickest in all women's Twenty20 cricket, behind only Windies' Deandra Dottin's 38-ball ton against South Africa during the ICC 2010 World T20.

Harris, who beat Ashleigh Gardner's 47-ball Big Bash century for Sydney Sixers against Stars in December last year, sealed her century with a six, ending unbeaten on 101.

Harris, dropped on 92, had the chance to win the match for Heat with a single when she was on 95 but was waved back by partner Beth Mooney.

The 25-year-old - who made the last of her 20 appearances for Australia in November 2016 - then launched Alana King down the ground for her sixth maximum to complete a 10-wicket victory for her side.

The right-hander also blasted 13 fours as she dominated an unbeaten 138-run stand with Mooney, who scored 28 not out.

Harris' ton was her second in the WBBL, with the Queensland-born player having lashed the first in the tournament's history with 103 for Heat against Sixers in Perth in December 2015.
