Watch a Cook-themed day of shows on Sky Sports Cricket following his knighthood in the New Year Honours list
Tuesday 1 January 2019 13:22, UK
Alastair Cook is going to become a knight - so we've decided to dedicate a day to him!
New Year's Day will feature four programmes looking at the career of England's all-time leading Test run-scorer, including his fairy-tale finale at the Oval as he bowed out with a 33rd Test ton and to a standing ovation.
We will also chart the home Ashes triumphs Cook was part of in 2009, 2013, and 2015 - with the latter seeing him captain England to glory and earn redemption following his side's humbling 5-0 defeat in Australia in 2013/14.
Cook's career is not finished yet, though - he has signed a three-year deal with Essex to carry on playing county cricket so could be grinding domestic bowlers into the dirt for some time to come!
