South African wants out of Kolpak contract

Warwickshire have expressed their unhappiness with Vaughn van Jaarsveld after the South African announced he wants to be released from his contract. Batsman van Jaarsveld signed a three-year deal with Warwickshire as a Kolpak player five months ago, but has since decided that his future lies with South Africa. Ashley Giles, Warwickshire's director of cricket, told the Birmingham Post: "It's a disappointing situation. "He's signed a contract, a lucrative one for a young guy, and we're paying him. He was in our plans but now he tells us he doesn't want to come back." Van Jaarsveld has decided to stay with the Highveld Lions in Gauteng. But the way he has gone about the whole issue has left a bad taste in the mouth. According to the county he has failed to speak to them directly about his decision.
