Australian all-rounder Dan Christian will be Notts Outlaws' replacement for Darren Sammy for the remainder of their NatWest T20 Blast campaign.

Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell sees Christian as the ideal man to fill the overseas vacancy left by Sammy, the West Indies all-rounder having departed for the Caribbean Premier League after a four-game stint with the county.

Christian has previously played for three other counties, as well as in the Indian Premier League, and has represented Australia 34 times in ODIs and T20s.

The powerful hitter has enjoyed previous spells with Hampshire, Gloucestershire and most recently Middlesex in 2014.

Christian made a superb 129 for Middlesex against Kent Spitfires during their 2014 T20 Blast campaign, which is the second highest innings ever made by a player on the losing team in the English T20.

Newell said: "It was an easy decision to bring him in.

"He's someone that tends to score his runs quickly and he also provides a very good option with the ball, which you need plenty of in T20 cricket."

Christian added: "I am thrilled to be joining Nottinghamshire. When Mick got in touch to see if I was keen, I didn't think twice and I jumped at the opportunity to come over."
