Adam Lyth smashed eight sixes in an innings of 125 from 78 balls as Yorkshire chased 310 to beat Northamptonshire by two wickets in an entertaining Royal London One-Day Cup game at Scarborough.

Ben Duckett had earlier made a century of his own, scoring 121 in 113 deliveries, and was involved in a stand of 166 with Alex Wakely (71) for the third wicket as the visitors racked up 310-7 in their 50 overs.

Liam Plunkett took 2-33 in his 10 overs and was the only Yorkshire bowler to go at less than five and a half an over.

In reply, Lyth got the hosts off to a flyer and they had 106 on the board when Alex Lees (20) was dismissed in the 12th over. The opener reached his century off just 60 balls but his dismissal led to a mid-innings wobble - three wickets falling for just three runs.

However, Gary Ballance (80) remained and with the help, first, of Tim Bresnan (38) and then David Willey (26no) took Jason Gillespie's side to the cusp of victory.

With just eight needed to win, the left-hander was bowled by Azharullah with Plunkett following two balls later, but a maximum from Willey saw Yorkshire home with more than two overs remaining.

Michael Klinger's highest one-day score helped holders Gloucestershire to their first win in this year's competition as they beat Hampshire by 10 runs.

The Australian finished unbeaten on 166 from his side's 352-3 after sharing an opening stand of 242 with Chris Dent, whose 142 came from just 116 balls.

The partnership was the second-highest in county's one-day history and formed the backbone of a daunting total, but Hampshire made a decent fist of the run chase as Tom Alsop, Sean Ervine and Liam Dawson all struck fifties at quicker than a run a ball.

But a mini-collapse from 166-2 to 180-5 proved costly and Gareth Andrew's late blast, which included five sixes and yielded 70 from 41 balls, was not enough.

Rory Burns hit 70 not out in 59 balls as Surrey beat Sussex by six wickets (D/L) in a rain affected match at Guildford.

Adverse weather conditions meant that the match was initially reduced to 45 overs a side but when play did get under way, Sussex lost opener Chris Nash (0) third ball. They struggled to recover from that early setback and slumped to 100-5 in the 22nd over.

A quick-fire 42 from Luke Wright and a maiden List A half-century from Chris Jordan (55) gave them some hope but another flurry of wickets saw them bowled out for 239 with nine balls remaining - Ravi Rampaul the pick of the Surrey bowlers with 4-47.

The rain returned and Surrey were set a revised target of 235 from 43 overs when play resumed. However, they too made a stuttering start and were 99-4 when Ajmal Shahzad had Zafar Ansari caught behind.

That brought Burns and Ben Foakes (60no) together though and the pair quickly put on 136 to see Surrey home with more than nine overs to spare.

Half-centuries from Daniel Bell-Drummond and Sam Northeast set Kent up for a convincing 95-run win over Somerset at Canterbury.

Rain meant a delayed start with the game reduced to just 30 overs a side. Somerset elected to field but innings of 68 and 64 from Bell-Drummond and Northeast, respectively, followed by some lusty hitting from Alex Blake (36no) saw Kent reach 231-6.

Somerset found themselves 35-3 in response and that soon became 64-6 when James Tredwell bowled James Hildreth.

Roelof van der Merwe (29) and Alex Barrow (27) did manage to put on 53 for the seventh wicket but they both fell in quick succession with Somerset eventually bowled out for 136 in the 25th over.

South Group leaders Glamorgan lost their 100 per cent record in Cardiff as visitors Middlesex won by 28 runs.

Middlesex posted 294-7 largely thanks to a 176 opening stand between Brendon McCullum and England's latest T20 recruit Dawid Malan.

McCullum took just 85 balls over his 110 while Malan hit 70 before taking two wickets as Glamorgan came up short despite the efforts of Colin Ingram, whose 85 included four maximums.
