Surrey suffer first total washout at home since 2007
Surrey's LV= County Championship clash with Durham was abandoned without a ball being bowled after further heavy rain at the Kia Oval.
Umpires Martin Bodenham and Mark Benson made the decision to call off the game well before the scheduled 11am start after an overnight deluge left them no option.
The covers at the Oval were under water, the outfield sodden and practice wickets flooded on Sunday, meaning Surrey suffered their first total washout at the venue since the Championship clash against Sussex in 2007.
Day Three
It was a case of 'more of the same' at the Kia Oval as the third day's play between Surrey and Durham went the way of the first two.
A midday inspection was all that was required for officials to deem the outfield unplayable after all the recent rain.
And with further rain forecast on Saturday, it is possible that all four days will be lost for the first time in more than two decades at the South London venue.
Day Two
For the second successive day no play was possible in Surrey's LV= County Championship Division One match against Durham at the Kia Oval.
The decision was again taken in early afternoon and with more rain forecast the ground is facing its first four-day washout since the match against Sussex in 2007.
The last championship game before that to be wiped at the Oval was in 1981 against Hampshire.
Day One
No play was possible on the first day of Surrey's LV= County Championship match against Durham at the Kia Oval.
It was decided well before the scheduled start that there could be no play until after lunch, but with frequent heavy showers falling all hope was abandoned in early afternoon.
Durham had not played a Championship match in London for five years until last week, when they also suffered a first day washout at against Middlesex Lord's.
Both sides were held to draws in their previous fixtures, which were also rain-affected.
