Birmingham Bears have signed Australia wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade for the closing stages of their NatWest T20 Blast North Group campaign.

Wade is set to feature in the Bears' final six matches as a replacement for Luke Ronchi, who will end his stay at Edgbaston early in order to join New Zealand ahead of their tour of Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Birmingham's director of cricket Dougie Brown said on their official website: "Matthew is an ideal replacement for Luke and a great addition to the squad who will provide power to the middle-order as well as being a top-class gloveman."

Wade, currently representing Australia in the ongoing Tri-Series against West Indies and South Africa in the Caribbean, is scheduled to make his Bears debut at Yorkshire on July 8.
