Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds has agreed to join Surrey for their 2010 Friends Provident t20 challenge. The 34-year-old will arrive with a fearsome Twenty20 reputation, with the record for the quickest domestic century and a strike-rate of 156.79. Symonds needed just 34 deliveries to rack up a ton playing for Kent in 2004, while he will offer plenty of variety with the ball in hand. Able to mix up off-spin with medium pace bowling, Symonds boosts a T20 average of 32.94. And Surrey's cricket manager Chris Adams is delighted to have completed the signing of Symonds, who is currently playing for Deccan Chargers in the IPL. Adams told the club's official site: "Signing a player with the unique abilities of Andrew Symonds will add a huge 'X Factor' to our squad in the Friends Provident t20. "I have watched him take apart some of the best bowlers in the world and am hugely excited to see him exhibit his skills in front of packed houses around the country." Symonds is looking forward to returning to England having previously played for Kent, Gloucestershire and Lancashire. Symonds said: "I have always enjoyed playing in England and I am really looking forward to playing with the Surrey Lions. "I consider myself lucky to have the opportunity to play this exciting form of tournament cricket in so many different regions and I am sure the English crowds will make the Friends Provident t20 competition one of the best."
