Essex have signed spinner Ravi Patel from Middlesex on a short-term loan.
The 23-year-old will join Essex for the next two LV= County Championship matches after another loan signing, Liam Dawson, was recalled by Hampshire.
The slow left-arm bowler, who has taken 50 first-class wickets in 18 matches, is set to make his Essex debut in the game against Kent which starts at Tunbridge Wells on Sunday.
Patel will also be available for the game against Surrey at the Colchester Cricket Festival which starts on August 7.
Essex head coach Paul Grayson said: “Ravi is one of the best young spinners in the country.
“Obviously he’s not playing much cricket at the moment, and we welcome him to the squad.
“I would like to thank Middlesex for making the loan signing possible.”
