Derbyshire all-rounder Shiv Thakor has signed a one-year contract extension which will keep him with the county until the end of the 2017 season.

The 22-year-old is the third player to commit his future to the club this week after Tom Taylor and Wayne Madsen signed new deals until 2017 and 2019 respectively.

In 2015, his first season with Derbyshire, Thakor ended both one-day competitions as the county's leading wicket taker, claiming 15 in the NatWest T20 Blast and 11 in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

He also contributed with the bat, scoring over 200 runs across both one-day formats, including one half-century.

Elite performance director Graeme Welch said: "Shiv is another exciting young talent we have at the club, who has already shown the ability to positively impact games.

"He's a versatile player who is constantly improving his game. He now has a big summer ahead to build on the experiences of 2015 and the hard work he has put in over the winter."

Thakor said: "I'm thrilled to sign a new deal at Derbyshire. Graeme and his coaching team have been great since I joined and I feel my game will only improve under them.
