Paceman bounces back after ankle problem

Australia fast bowler Mitchell Johnson returned to action for Western Australia after an injury scare. He received treatment and had ice-packs applied to a sore ankle, allowing him to bowl and take an early wicket on the second day of WA's Sheffield Shield clash against Tasmania. Johnson had twisted his ankle during a bowling run-up on day one of the match. That forced him off the field for treatment, and a Western Australia spokesperson said Johnson's fitness would be reviewed. He was able to take to the field, proving his readiness with a net session, and took a wicket in his first over of the morning when he dismissed George Bailey lbw for 49. Johnson bowled seven overs in all and looks set to be available for Australia's tour of South Africa. The 29-year-old left-armer is due to leave for South Africa with the one-day team on Friday and is also likely to be involved in the two-match Test series. His participation for Australia is key after fellow paceman Brett Lee was ruled out of the tour with appendicitis.
