Akmal set for recall behind the stumps for third Test at the Oval

Pakistan wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider is unlikely to play again in the Test series against England due to a hairline fracture on a finger in his right hand. The 24-year-old is believed to have sustained the injury prior to making his debut for the tourists in the second Test at Edgbaston. However Zulqarnain was left in some discomfort after blocking a throw from Stuart Broad with his hand during that match. The incident resulted in the England seamer being fined half of his match fee. Kamran Akmal - who was dropped after a poor display in the series opener at Trent Bridge - looks certain to be recalled for the third Test at the Oval.

No blame

"We wanted him (Zulqarnain) to play because the way he batted last time was very good and we learned a lot from him," said Pakistan's Imran Farhat. "But if he cannot play it doesn't matter because we have Kamran who has been working hard also. "We are not sure what happened. He had a problem with it anyway but he got hit (by Broad's throw) and it hit him on the same finger and the pain got worse. "We are not blaming Broad, it could have happened before."
