Pakistan bowler moves into world top 10 as England struggle

Pakistan's Abdur Rehman admits he is enjoying partnering Saeed Ajmal as they continue to put England into a spin in the UAE. Left-arm spinner Rehman has now joined team-mate Ajmal in the top ten bowlers in the world rankings following the duo's combined 29 wickets in the first two Test matches against the befuddled tourists. The 31-year-old moved to ninth in the rankings - with spin twin Ajmal second - as he claimed the man of the match accolade in Abu Dhabi last week with a career-best 6-25 as England were dismissed for a lowly 72 in the second innings. Rehman registered his 50th Test wicket last month, while Matt Prior became Ajmal's 100th victim last week and Rehman believes the pair complement each other well. "We support each other so much that we always think that anyone can get a wicket," he said ahead of the final Test match in Dubai. England have been stunned by the duo thus far in the series and are yet to find a way to counter the spinners who are enjoying the slow, bowling-friendly surfaces.

Having come into the series as the number one Test nation, England's much-vaunted batting line-up have failed to perform with Kevin Pietersen, Eoin Morgan and Ian Bell all unable to continue previous good form. And the sub-standard performance of the England batsmen, leading to defeat inside three days during the second Test match, has given Rehman and Pakistan hopes of overtaking England in the Test rankings and completing an historic first-ever series whitewash of their opponents. "We had no idea the Test matches will finish in three or four days," he added. "The game-plan of the coach and captain was to contain them so that they make mistakes and it's worked. "We have done well against the world number one team and if we play like this we can become number one. We want to play the third Test in the same manner."
