New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson has sustained a back injury and will play no further part on the tour of England.

The 24-year-old suffered a stress-related injury to his lumbar spine during the first Test at Lord's and will miss the remaining ODIs.

New Zealand head coach Mike Hesson said: "Corey has been working hard to get back to full fitness for the ODI series but he hasn’t been able to overcome this injury.

“We felt the best course of action was to send him back to New Zealand for further assessment."

Anderson managed just eight overs at Lord's but did hit 67 in the second innings in New Zealand's 124-run defeat.

New Zealand are yet to name a replacement.

Somerset also issued a statement regarding the injury, as Anderson had been due to represent them in the second half of the NatWest T20 Blast.
