Warwickshire's Porterfield to captain squad in 50-over tournament
Ireland have included Sussex batsman Ed Joyce in their squad for the forthcoming World Cup.
The left-hander played in the event four years ago for England but has now been cleared by the International Cricket Council to switch back to the country of his birth.
However Ireland missed out on the chance to select Hamish Marshall as he was refused the same special dispensation given to Joyce.
The former New Zealand batsman will now have to wait until April to be able to make his first appearance for his adopted nation.
Rankin included
Warwickshire batsman William Porterfield has been named as captain of a 15-man party that also includes fit-again paceman Boyd Rankin.
"I like the balance of the squad," said Ireland coach Phil Simmons.
"As with most Irish teams of the past few years, there are quite a few all-rounders, and that gives us plenty of options in all departments.
"This squad contains a lot of experience with nine having played in the 2007 competition - I am sure that is more than most teams.
"What is different this time from 2007 is that 13 of the 15 earn their living from cricket - that's practically a full-time squad. It makes such a difference having the guys full-time."
Ireland find themselves in Group B alongside Bangladesh, who they face in their opening match on February 25, England, India, South Africa, the Netherlands and West Indies.
Full squad: William Porterfield (captain), Andre Botha, Alex Cusack, George Dockrell, Trent Johnston, Nigel Jones, Ed Joyce, John Mooney, Kevin O'Brien, Niall O'Brien (wicketkeeper), Boyd Rankin, Paul Stirling, Albert van der Merwe, Gary Wilson, Andrew White.
