Batsman surplus to requirements for Australia matches

Thilina Kandamby has been left out of a pool of 20 players named by Sri Lanka for the home ODI and T20I series against Australia in August. Kandamby was vice-captain for the limited-overs matches during the recent tour of England. He scored just 36 runs as Sri Lanka lost the ODI series 3-2 and has now been overlooked for the visit of Australia. Paceman Dilhara Fernando, who missed the one-dayers in England due to a leg injury, has also been omitted. Leg-spinner Malinga Bandara and all-rounder Chamara Kapugedera are recalled, while off-spinner Sachitra Senanayake is the only uncapped player included.
