Pakistan bowler returns after serving his ban

Paceman Shoaib Akhtar has been recalled to Pakistan's One-Day International squad. The 'Rawalpindi Express' has served a 13-match ban for striking his fellow seamer Mohammad Asif with a bat in the build up to the ICC World Twenty20 tournament. He is now set to return for the series decider against South Africa at Lahore on Monday, and then head to India for a five-match series.

Asif is also named in the party and chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed insists he had no hesitation in picking the duo together. "Shoaib is now available for Pakistan and we have checked his fitness in a domestic match," Ahmed said. "He remains a key player for us and will boost the pace attack for the Indian tour. "For the one-dayers we believe we have picked the most balanced outfit and the presence of Shoaib and Asif will make our bowling dependable." All-rounder Fawad Alam has also been named in Shoaib Malik's squad for the tour of India, which starts in Guwahati on 5th November. Pakistan: Shoaib Malik (captain), Shahid Afridi, Salman Butt, Imran Nazir, Yasir Hameed, Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf, Misbah-ul-Haq, Fawad Alam, Kamran Akmal, Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Asif, Umar Gul, Rao Iftikhar, Sohail Tanvir, Abdul Rehman.
