The Pakistan Cricket Board have confirmed that fast bowler Mohammad Asif will miss the Test series against India because of an elbow injury.
"He is still struggling with his elbow injury and is going to be sent to Australia for a complete check-up and rehabilitation process," chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed said.
Pakistan kick off their three-Test series against India on November 22 in Delhi
Leg-spinner Danish Kaneria, batsman Faisal Iqbal and fast bowler Mohammad Sami have all been called up to the 15-man squad.
Outstanding
Salahuddin says Sami is "the best option to partner Shoaib Akhtar".
"Sami is in outstanding form at the moment. We need to strengthen our pace attack and along with Shoaib and Umar Gul, they should form a potent attack," said Salahuddin.
Imran Nazir, Fawad Alam, Rao Iftikhar and all-rounder Shahid Afridi who are all taking part in the current one-day series will return home once the series concludes in Jaipur on Sunday.
