Minnows to blood youngsters in one-day series

Bangladesh have included four uncapped players in a 14-man squad for the three-match one-day series against South Africa. The Tigers, who suffered a 2-0 defeat in the Test series against the Proteas, have axed out-of-form wicketkeeper/batsman Mushfiqar Rahim and replaced him with promising youngster Dhiman Ghosh. Rahim managed just 28 runs in the Test series and was untidy behind the stumps, while he has scored only four runs in his last five ODIs. Middle-order batsmen Roqibul Hassan and Nazim Uddin, and left-arm spinner Mosharraf Hossain Rubel are the other new faces in the squad. Batsman Aftab Ahmed was ruled out of the series after requiring three stitches in a face wound after being struck by a Jacques Kallis delivery in the second innings of the last Test in Chittagong. "It will take Ahmed another four to five days to recover from the injury," said chief selector Rafiqul Alam. "Nazim Uddin's style of batting is similar to Ahmed. He is also an attacking batsman so we decided to give him a chance." The first match will take place in Chttagong on Sunday with the remaining two rubbers in Dhaka on March 12 and 14.
