Leicestershire strengthen seam attack ahead of 2008 campaign
Leicestershire have bolstered their bowling attack for the upcoming season by adding Dillon du Preez and Jermaine Lawson as Kolpak signings.
West Indies Test paceman Lawson will be joined at Grace Road by South African seamer du Preez as they look for more attacking bowling options.
The former has 13 Test caps and taken 51 wickets at 29.64 with a career best 7-78 against Australia in Antigua in 2003.
After being forced to remodel his bowling action after a stress fracture, the 26-year-old was the top wicket-taker in West Indian cricket last year.
Lawson will join fellow Kolpak signing Garnett Kruger in spearheading the pace attack next season.
Hostile
'In Jermaine and Garnett we will have real pace and hostility in our opening attack, complimenting our promising clutch of England qualified fast bowlers currently in South Africa," Foxes coach Tim Boon told the club's website.
"Both new signings have a reputation for being model professionals."
A third Kolpak bowler will be performing at Leicestershire with another South African arriving in the form of Dillon du Preez.
The 26-year-old was the second-best wicket-taker for South African side the Eagles and Boon has likened him in style to Darren Gough.
Leicestershire are taking full advantage of the Kolpak ruling, which means players from countries with agreements with the EU - such as South Africa, Zimbabwe and Jamaica - can play in county cricket without counting as an overseas player.
