Bob Willis' video blog saluted a kindred spirit in Tim Ambrose following the England keeper's Test heroics.
Bob Willis saluted a kindred spirit in Tim Ambrose after the wicket-keeper's heroics helped England reach 291-5 on day one of the second Test against New Zealand in Wellington. In just his second Test, the Warwickshire keeper hit an unbeaten 97 as he and captain Paul Collingwood (48 not out) ensured the tourists avoided a repeat of their Hamilton horror-show. And it was not just Australia-born Ambrose's ambitious strokeplay which impressed Sky Sports' Willis: the former fast bowler, who famously adopted the middle name Dylan in homage to his hero, seemed equally taken with the new boy's taste in music. "What a day it's been of twists and turns," he told his skysports.com blog. "Everything was rosy in the garden for England at lunchtime...but then Hamilton-itis hit the batsmen. "Were England going to get shot out again for 170-200? Not a bit of it. Bob Dylan-loving Tim Ambrose came to the rescue, with Paul Collingwood as his support act. "New Zealand's over rate would send you to sleep, but Ambrose wouldn't - he was smashing the ball all around the park in that closing session. "You might have thought he'd have been Blowin' In The Wind in Wellington today - not a bit of it. May he stay Forever Young, The Times They Are A-Changing behind the stumps for England."
