England are 'sitting pretty' in the sun of Wellington after three days of the second Test against New Zealand and should secure a victory to level the three match series on Sunday. That was the verdict of Sky Sports commentator Paul Allott in the skysports.com video blog from the Basin Reserve after England forged ahead in the match, scoring 277-9 and leading by 421. Allott reflected on a good day for England played in near perfect conditions, something of a rarity for Wellington apparently. He said: "The cricketers today had a perfect day, it was a classic day for batting. It was getting a little bit easier by the minute for Test cricket. "I was very impressed with the way that England played today but I was a bit surprised that they didn't get a move on through the mid-afternoon.

"Against the old ball, pile on those runs, get the lead above 400 a little bit quicker and declare with 30 or 40 minutes to go before the end of play - get New Zealand in for the second and last time in the match. "As it is, England leading by 421 runs, that should be more than enough runs. Remember that 418 is the highest score ever made in the fourth innings of a Test match to win a game and the highest score ever made on the basin reserve? 277 in a Test match. "England sitting pretty then and I expect them to win comfortably some time tomorrow." The fourth day's play can be watched from 9pm on Saturday on Sky Sports 2.
