Rampaul signs for Ireland

Ireland have signed Trinidadian seam bowler Ravi Rampaul as their overseas player for the remainder of the FP Trophy.

Ireland have signed Trinidadian seam bowler Ravi Rampaul as their overseas player for the remainder of the FP Trophy. Rampaul, 23, brings valuable experience from 30 one-day internationals for West Indies and goes straight into Ireland's squad for the fixture at Leicestershire on Sunday. "He's played 30 times for the West Indies in one-day internationals, and you don't do that unless you can play a bit," said Ireland coach Phil Simmons. "He's a very useful bowler, with plenty of pace and movement. He has a passion for the game, and loves to play. "He's also a competitive type of player, which I like. He'll bring a lot to the dressing room."
