Big-hitting all-rounder targets one-day success for South Africa

Albie Morkel is hopeful that South Africa can complete the double over England in the NatWest Series. The all-rounder, 27, is part of the Proteas' limited-overs squad and, after watching the Test team, including younger brother Morne, seal a 2-1 series triumph, believes more success will follow in the one-dayers. "We've been playing some good one-day cricket, we were number one in the world earlier this year and we're a proud nation," said Morkel. "For us to come over here and win a Test series and a one-day series in England would be a big achievement and we're all really keen to do that."

Durham stint

Morkel is used to English conditions having played for Durham during this season's Twenty20 Cup. "I've tried to keep myself fit during my time off and played a couple of games for Durham and then after that club cricket, but adapting to international cricket again is going to be my big challenge irrespective of the conditions," he admitted. "Getting used to the intensity that international players play at again is going to be my biggest step." England and South Africa contest a one-off Twenty20 international at the Riverside on August 20 followed by five one-day internationals at Headingley (Aug 22), Trent Bridge (Aug 26), the Oval (Aug 29), Lord's (Aug 31) and Cardiff (Sep 3).
