All four days of the contest battle were washed out and subsequently both sides take home four points. The result means Surrey remain bottom of the table, while Lancashire have been plunged into a relegation battle after five games without a win. The Red Rose County have now taken just seven points from their last two matches. Day three Lancashire's game with Surrey looks like being completely lost to the weather after the continued rain prevented a third day's play at Blackpool. Stanley Park was soaked after all the downpours and with the ground too wet to play on the umpires called off the third day in a row. "I have never seen a ground as boggy in my life," said umpire Jeremy Lloyds. "If we don't get the drying weather - as you can see it is grey and overcast - then it might be the same again tomorrow." Both sides are desperate to get in some cricket to try and bag some bonus points, and Lancashire cricket manager Mike Watkinson and Surrey coach Alan Butcher tried to get some play started on Friday, but the umpires decided against it. Day Two Lancashire and Surrey continued to be frustrated by the weather after play was abandoned without a ball being bowled for the second day in a row. Day two of the LV County Championship fixture at Blackpool's Stanley Park was abandoned shortly after 9am due to a wet outfield. Overnight rain left the playing area saturated and prompted umpires Jeremy Lloyds and Nick Cook to make an early decision. The quagmire conditions are so bad that the third day is already in doubt, there are particular concerns about the condition of the bowler's run ups. "You can't even walk around the outfield without ruining your shoes and the bottom of your trousers," said Lancashire cricket manager Mike Watkinson. "It's quite obvious that conditions aren't fit for first-class cricket. It is very, very wet out there." Day one The opening day of Lancashire's County Championship game with Surrey was lost to the rain at Blackpool's Stanley Park. Overnight rain had already left the outfield boggy and with more wet weather around umpires Jeremy Lloyds and Nick Cook called a halt to proceedings at 1pm without a ball being bowled. The call meant it was a seventh full day of Lancashire's Division One season campaign which has been washed out without a ball bowled. The county have often complained that the weather has badly affected their title challenges, and again they were left kicking their heels in the pavilion.
