Moores plans to tap into knowledge of former internationals
Mushtaq Ahmed and Waqar Younis could both be handed roles in England's coaching set up.
Head coach Peter Moores has sounded out former Pakistan leg-spinner Mustaq about the possibility of helping England's slow bowlers.
The pair have previously worked together at Sussex and Mushtaq - who retired in August due to a knee injury - already has international coaching experience as an assistant during Bob Woolmer's time in charge of Pakistan.
"Mushy is passionate at some stage to coach and pass on the information he's gained over the last 20 years," said Moores.
"He's very good and speaks the players' language. No formal approach has been made, though I've spoken to him about it.
Clarity
"There are certain people who can be helped to develop a certain clarity of thought. Mushy has that ability."
Mushtaq's former Pakistan team-mate Waqar will work as a consultant to the second-string England Lions during their tour of India this winter.
The 38-year-old former paceman was regarded as an expert in the art of reverse swing and specialised in toe-crushing yorkers during an international career that yielded 373 Test and 416 one-day international wickets.
"Waqar will work with the Lions," confirmed Moores. "There are two things in cricket - technique and method. Technique is what you've got, method is how you apply it.
"Bowlers from other countries apply what they've got differently sometimes and that is where players such as Waqar might prove helpful.
"He'll be involved in some work in the performance program. If that goes well, we'll use him again. It's more consultancy based-coaching."
