Kevin Pietersen says building towards the 2011 World Cup is not on England's agenda during the one-day series in India.
England skipper already over expensive defeat
Kevin Pietersen is keen to forget England's Stanford Series humiliation and concentrate on the tour of India.
Pietersen's men lost by 10 wickets in the winner-takes-all Twenty20 for $20m match against the Stanford Superstars in Antigua before flying straight out to India for seven one-day internationals.
And the England captain has told his squad not to dwell on their lost pay day and instead to focus on the "very difficult" challenge of beating India on their home patch.
"India is playing fantastic cricket right now and it is tough beating India in India," he said.
"Last week wasn't special but it absolutely has no bearing on what will happen here in India.
"We've been playing good cricket as well, we beat South Africa 4-0 (last summer). We're obviously looking to improve."
Adapt
Pietersen insisted the one-day team was looking at the here and now rather than building towards the 2011 World Cup, which will be played on the Asian subcontinent.
"My thoughts are on this series," he added. "(The World Cup) is so far away it's not in my thoughts right now."
England coach Peter Moores is backing his players to adapt to the local conditions, something they failed to do on their last visit to India in 2006, when they surrendered the one-day series 5-1.
"India's batting's always been strong and it is a real challenge playing here given the difficult conditions," said Moores.
England play two warm-up fixtures against Mumbai on November 9 and 11 before the series opener in Rajkot on November 14.
