England players given three weeks to perform
England's centrally-contracted players will be made available for three weeks to play in the Indian Premier League for the next two years.
They will now be able to participate in some of this year's tournament, which takes place from April 10 to May 29, following the conclusion of the one-day series in West Indies at St Lucia on April 3.
All the players will be required to return before the first Test at Lord's this summer against West Indies, which starts on May 7.
The announcement represents a compromise between the England and Wales Cricket Board, who wanted to release the players for two weeks, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India, who wanted them for a month.
"The discussions held between our respective boards have been most productive and ECB is grateful to the president and honorary secretary of BCCI for the excellent relationship which has been developed with the BCCI on a wide ranging number of issues," said ECB chief executive David Collier.
"Our agreement is good for the players, the respective boards, our counties and for cricket.
"We look forward to welcoming India, the reigning ICC World Twenty20 Champions, to England for the ICC World Twenty20 this summer and for the tour of England and Wales in 2011."
As part of the deal, every player who signs an IPL agreement will have to give 10 per cent of their earnings to their county while the two boards have also agreed to schedule Test and one-day series every four years.
Players who do not have a central contract with England have been given until May 8 to return to their counties - effectively giving them a month's exposure to the IPL.
This year's IPL auction for players will take place in Goa on February 6 while franchises have until February 4 to submit players as additions to that list.
