Batsman misses out ahead of Australia clash

Scotland have axed batsman Navdeep Poonia ahead of the one-day international against Australia on Friday. The Warwickshire player is the only player to be omitted from the squad following the two games against Ireland over the weekend. The Scots, who will be captained by Gavin Hamilton at the Citylets Grange, are still without Simon Smith with a shoulder injury so 19-year-old Marc Petrie continues as wicketkeeper-batsman. Head coach Peter Steindl said: "The players selected are all looking forward to the game immensely. It does not get any bigger than playing the world champions in front of a large home crowd. "The Australians will be looking for a stern test ahead of the England T20s and ODIs and will certainly not be taking us lightly."
