Bowler apologises for television appearance

The Pakistan Cricket Board will not be pursuing action against Shoaib Akhtar after the pace bowler appeared on a television show. Shoaib breached the terms of his contract by appearing on the programme and saying he was unhappy with the PCB for releasing confidential information on a medical report. The veteran was pulled from the World Twenty20 squad earlier this summer after suffering from 'genital viral warts', but is still available for selection providing he proves his fitness. "Akhtar has realised his mistake and he has apologised to the board for his actions," PCB chairman Ijaz Butt said. "We have decided to close this matter now. "If the national selectors are satisfied with his fitness he is eligible to play for the country." Shoaib has not been included in the 15-man squad that will travel to South Africa for the ICC Champions Trophy later this month.
