Skipper insists no decision has been made on tour inclusion

The future of fast bowler Steve Harmison is still undecided according to England captain Andrew Strauss. The Middlsex batsman said the squad for the South Africa tour later this year had not been finalised despite speculation that the two-time Ashes-winning fast bowler would not be included. The 30-year-old was recalled for the last two Ashes Tests to replace an injured Andrew Flintoff, but was not given a central contract earlier this month. "We haven't discussed the Test squad at all at this stage," said Strauss. "Harmison does offer something that other bowlers don't; he's definitely got a good chance of being on the tour. "But we have to look at the whole balance of the side, all that sort of stuff. "It would be wrong for me to comment on that at this stage, the selection meeting will be happening after the Champions Trophy."

Clean break

Meanwhile, England are set to begin preparations for the Champions Trophy where they will face hosts South Africa alongside Sri Lanka and New Zealand in Group B of the eight-side competition. With the 6-1 one-day series defeat by Australia a sore memory, Strauss is determined for England to make a clean break in the tournament. "We probably have to wipe the slate clean," he said. "There's an overall feeling of what went well and what went badly in that series against Australia. "We know the areas we need to improve in and against different opposition we will be asked different questions and be given different opportunities."
