One-day series and Twenty20 schedule against New Zealand announced

Pakistan have announced a line-up of three one-day internationals and two Twenty20 matches against New Zealand to be played in the United Arab Emirates next month. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement that the one-day series had to be reduced from four to three to accommodate a request from New Zealand Cricket for a break of two days between each match. The series gets underway on November 3 in Abu Dhabi followed by two more one-day matches on November 6 and 9 and two Twenty20 internationals on November 12 and 13 in Dubai. The one-day series will be Pakistan's second at a neutral venue this year after previously hosting Australia in the UAE.

Security fears

Security concerns saw New Zealand refusing to tour Pakistan following the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore which left eight people dead and seven Sri Lankan players and an assistant coach injured. Even prior to these attacks, the Pakistan army's insurgency against the Taliban meant that foreign teams were reluctant to play there, with security fears prompting the International Cricket Council to relocate the Champions Trophy and World Cup 2011. A three Test series between Pakistan and New Zealand, which was also originally programmed for Pakistan, will now be staged in New Zealand later this year. Series itinerary: November 3 - First one-day international - Abu Dhabi November 6 - Second one-day international - Abu Dhabi November 9 - Third one-day international - Abu Dhabi November 12 - First Twenty20 international - Dubai November 13 - Second Twenty20 international - Dubai (all matches day-night)
