New Zealand Cricket have confirmed that Andy Moles is to remain in his position as Black Caps coach despite the reported disenchantment of his players.
The Dominion Post had run a story claiming that senior New Zealand players felt Moles was not up to the task of coaching in the international arena.
Indeed, it reported players as claiming that captain Daniel Vettori had been coaching the side for the past six months and made clear their desire for the Englishman to be removed from his post.
It is understood mediation is to take place, but in a statement NZC chief executive Justin Vaughan insisted former Warwickshire batsman Moles would remain as head coach and would continue to prepare the side for the forthcoming series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.
Review
However, he did acknowledge that a review was underway, stating: "Following the Black Caps' return from Sri Lanka and the Champions Trophy we are undertaking a review of the team's performance.
"This looks at all aspects of individual and collective performance with a view to continuous improvement."
Moles was a surprise choice for the job when he replaced John Bracewell last November after New South Wales coach Matthew Mott had turned the position down.
The Englishman has endured a difficult time since moving into international coaching with difficult spells with Kenya and then Scotland.
