Coaches recognised for hard work

Coaches from around England took part in a very special coaching session with England team Director Andy Flower at Lord's These coaches were rewarded for their dedication to cricket as they have made a real difference to their club or local community. Nominations came in from all over the country for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as players showed their appreciation for the hard work their coaches have done. Russell Ingram nominated Graham Ellis because he is always encouraging kids in local schools and communities to get into cricket. The retired Ellis has the enthusiasm and energy of someone half his age and spends all his time tirelessly working for Treeton Cricket Club. Mr Ingram's son Matthew has a physical disability but is always included and has blossomed by being allowed to play with the team. Another coach who won a place on the special training day was Jamie Griffith who was nominated by his brother John. Jamie has been playing cricket since he was three and was taught how to play by his grandfather who sadly passed away in March this year. He is studying sports science in Wrexham University and has a cricket coaching job with the council/cricket board of Wales. Jamie has already made a big difference in North Wales where teams have to travel far distances to get proper coaching and is hoping to bring something more independent and rewarding to kids in remote areas of Wales.
