Sir Bradley Wiggins has dropped a major hint that Mark Cavendish will move teams at the end of the season.

Cavendish is in the final year of his contract with Etixx - Quick-Step and the Manxman has been heavily linked with a move to MTN-Qhubeka.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ after stage one of the Aviva Tour of Britain, where both riders are racing this week, Wiggins suggested Cavendish will leave Etixx - Quick-Step while raising the prospect of the pair riding the Madison together at March's UCI Track Cycling World Championships in London.

Wiggins said: "Depending on what his programme is, there is a chance we might ride the worlds together next year in London in the Madison, which would be nice. We will see how it goes. Obviously, he is changing teams and stuff, so we will see how it all pans out."

Cavendish, 30, has also been linked with Trek Factory Racing and the prospect of remaining with Etixx - Quick-Step remains on the cards, but MTN-Qhubeka currently appear his most likely home for 2016.

The South African team are losing MTN as a title sponsor at the end of the season and although new backers have reportedly been recruited, it is understood that Cavendish would need to bring another sponsor to the set-up in order to cover his salary.
