David Pallett pulled off a major shock to knock out Kim Huybrechts

David Pallett pulled off a major shock to knock Kim Huybrechts out of the World Darts Championship in the first round at Alexandra Palace.

Pallett won 3-2, checking out 122 in the final leg, to ensure an early exit for the Belgian ace, who went into the competition as the No 12 seed.

The Shropshire-based player was a huge underdog to win, and his victory came as a surprise even to himself.

He said: "I've beaten him before, but up on the Ally Pally stage I did not think I would do it.

"There is not a lot I can say, I'm absolutely speechless, I'm over the moon."
