Phil Taylor takes on Adrian Lewis after Peter Wright faces Daryl Gurney at the World Matchplay
Sunday 30 July 2017 00:34, UK
Phil Taylor will look to reach his 17th World Matchplay final when he takes on his protege Adrian Lewis while Peter Wright faces Daryl Gurney.
Taylor rolled back the years in the most incredible way as he demolished Michael van Gerwen in Blackpool on Friday night, but must now re-focus when he faces fellow Stoke-on-Trent thrower Lewis in Saturday's semi-finals, live on Sky Sports Action and Sky Sports Mix from 7pm.
Lewis continued his challenge to win his maiden World Matchplay title by holding off battling Alan Norris with a 16-13 victory to reach the semi-finals for a second successive year.
They will meet for a 73rd time overall with 'The Power' leading the way convincingly 53-17, although Lewis has won six out of their last 10 meetings.
'Jackpot' will be playing his fourth World Matchplay semi-final, but there are question marks hanging over his fitness having undergone surgery on a back problem earlier this month.
The first semi-final will see No 3 Peter Wright - March's UK Open champion - up against Northern Ireland's Daryl Gurney, who is through to the last four in Blackpool for the first time.
'Snakebite' Wright will have revenge on his mind after losing his last meeting with 'Superchin' at the US Darts Masters earlier this month.
Semi-Finals [Best of 33 legs]
Daryl Gurney v Peter Wright
Phil Taylor v Adrian Lewis
