Monday at the World Darts Championship

Five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld begins his penultimate World Championship campaign on Monday evening, as Anastasia Dobromyslova also makes her Alexandra Palace return on a star-studded night of action.

Ryan Joyce is a very effective scorer and I think it's going to be interesting against Anastasia Dobromyslova. I've played Ryan and he is a tough guy to beat, but it's an opportunity for Dobromyslova because she's had a better draw than fellow female player Lisa Ashton did, so I think the hopes of women's darts are riding on this game. It's definitely the one to watch.

Vincent van der Voort v Lourence Ilagan (R1)

Vincent van der Voort and Lourence Ilagan collide in Monday's opener, for the right to take on 13th-seed Darren Webster in the second-round.

Former UK Open finalist Van der Voort reached the last 16 of last year's event, but has since slipped outside the world's top 32 after enduring a disappointing year on the circuit.

Ilagan is set to make his third World Championship appearance after claiming four titles on the inaugural PDC Asian Tour; subsequently topping the final rankings.

However, he has lost two of his previous three games on the Ally Pally stage against Marko Kantele and Colin Osborne, while Van der Voort has only suffered the solitary opening round defeat in his previous 11 PDC World Championships.

Wayne Jones v Devon Petersen (R1)

Wayne Jones will make his first World Championship appearance since 2015 when he takes on South Africa's Devon Petersen for a place in the second-round.

Jones qualified via the Pro Tour Order of Merit, while Petersen defeated Nolan Arendse 7-2 to win the PDC Africa Qualifier and seal his sixth Alexandra Palace appearance.

However, 'Dancing Devon' has not tasted victory at the World Championship since 2014, while Jones has suffered three consecutive first-round defeats in this event - with his last Ally Pally victory coming way back in 2012.

'The Wanderer' reached the semi-finals at the Circus Tavern in 2006 and he will be hoping to roll back the years and set up a second-round clash against 11th-seed Ian White.

Ryan Joyce v Anastasia Dobromyslova (R1)

Dobromyslova will make her Alexandra Palace return after a 10-year absence when she takes on debutant Joyce, for the right to play Simon Whitlock in round two.

Dobromyslova became just the second woman to feature at a PDC World Championship in 2009; losing 5-3 in the preliminary round to Remco van Eijden.

However, the three-time women's world champion sealed her return after storming through last month's Rest of the World Women's Qualifier in Dusseldorf; dropping just four legs in her six matches.

Joyce will make his Ally Pally bow after enjoying a strong year on the circuit, but he possesses some World Championship experience from his BDO days, having lost 3-2 to three-time Lakeside champion Martin Adams in 2017.

Raymond van Barneveld v Darius Labanauskas (R2)

Raymond van Barneveld begins his 27th and penultimate World Championship campaign on Monday night, as he bids to win a sixth world title.

The five-time world champion has slipped outside the world's top 16 after cutting down on his Pro Tour commitments, but he has reached the semi-finals in four of his last six World Championships.

He will take on Darius Labanauskas, who became the first ever Lithuanian to feature at a PDC World Championship.

The former Lakeside quarter-finalist defeated Matthew Edgar 3-1, and the winner of this tie could play two-time world champion Adrian Lewis in the third round.
