Darts betting preview: Sky Bet pick out the best odds ahead of Week Two in the Premier League

Bournemouth is the setting as the Premier League Darts campaign runs into its second week, live on Sky Sports 1 HD on Thursday.

Sky Bet are once again on hand to serve out some betting advice for week two, with Dave Chisnall against Raymond van Barneveld being the tightest call, according to the odds.

Here’s a betting breakdown of each of Thursday’s five fixtures.

Peter Wright v Gary Anderson

We kick off week two with an all-Scottish affair as Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright takes on Gary 'The Flying Scotsman’ Anderson.

Both had very different results last week with Wright getting hammered 7-1 by Dave Chisnall, averaging only 87, whereas an under-the-weather Anderson beat Phil Taylor 7-5 in a thrilling encounter.

Snakebite has been struggling lately and, barring a big turnaround in his form, his struggles are likely to continue on Thursday night. He is 11/10 with Sky Bet to be relegated come 'Judgement Night' in week 9.

In contrast, Anderson's confidence appears sky high despite suffering, in his words, from "man flu" last week. He shocked himself with a fine win over 16-time world champion Phil Taylor and, presuming he'll be back to full fitness, he should feel invincible.

It's difficult to see Peter Wright getting into the game and plausible to see Anderson breaking him three or four times. Back Anderson to win 7-1 or 7-3 (8/1 & 7/2 respectively with Sky Bet).

Michael van Gerwen v Stephen Bunting

Michael van Gerwen started the Premier League season off with a bang, beating debutant Kim Huybrechts 7-3 with an impressive 107 average. He looked as though he meant business and will take some stopping this year.

Could Stephen Bunting stop him in his tracks? Possibly. Bunting made a solid debut last week, holding James Wade to a draw.

He missed a lot of doubles (six of 22) but he gave himself plenty of opportunities and on another day could have taken the win. Despite missing the doubles, he impressed by making a couple of important checkouts, none more so than the 68 to snatch the point in the last leg.

Bunting looks like he fears no one and appears confident of getting results week in week out. If he can get a good start and settle the nerves he could push van Gerwen all the way. Backing over 10.5 legs at 4/6 with Sky Bet seems the most logical bet.

Adrian Lewis v Phil Taylor

This one is up there with one of the best fixtures in the Premier League calendar.

Taylor will be wondering how he came out of last week without a point when averaging 104 and checking out at 50 per cent. He's still working on perfecting his darts and probably spent plenty of time on the practice board this week.

Lewis, meanwhile, put in a sublime performance, thumping Raymond van Barneveld 7-1, averaging 113 and hitting five 180’s in the eight legs played. Lewis was up for it right from the off and, in that mood, he's tough to beat.

Lewis will quite rightly be fancying his chances this week against Taylor. Obviously, you can never write the 16-time world champion off, but the Jackpot is better value to get a result here.

James Wade v Kim Huybrechts

Kim Huybrechts had a tough opener facing Van Gerwen last week, but didn’t play badly at all. However, he missed a couple of important doubles that you can't afford to miss at this level, and paid the price.

Wade, although maybe not quite as skilled as Van Gerwen, is just as tough a competitor and won't give Huybrechts an inch in this week's game.

Wade's tenacity and quality of finishing will put pressure on Huybrechts, so expect him to win with a couple of legs to spare.

Back Wade -2.5 at 11/8 with Sky Bet.

Dave Chisnall v Raymond van Barneveld

This is an interesting match-up as Dave Chisnall comes off the back of a 7-1 victory last week and Van Barneveld a 7-1 defeat.

Chisnall won an all-important match with Wright as both were among the favourites to be relegated pre-tournament. He didn’t set the world on fire but he didn’t really need to get out of second gear against a poor Wright.

Barney's defeat last week was a shock for the bookmakers as he's been playing well recently. However, there’s nothing much he could have done against a high-flying Lewis - he needs to put that behind him and make sure he gets a better result against Chizzy.

It's a difficult match to call after contrasting performances last week, and the odds reflect this at 11/8 apiece for the win. Chisnall’s high scoring will put pressure on Barney to take out the big finishes and he's more than capable of doing so.
