Martin 'Wolfie' Adams lost to Jeff Smith at the BDO championships

Martin 'Wolfie' Adams crashed out of the BDO Lakeside World Professional Championships at the first hurdle to Jeff Smith.

Adams, who recently enjoyed a popular stint at the PDC Grand Slam of Darts, was on the receiving end of a 3-0 upset in the opening round of the BDO's top tournament.

But No 2 seed Adams could never get into his rhythm against Canada's Smith, a semi-finalist at last year's Lakeside event.

"He didn't give me any chances," Adams told BBC.

"Maybe I gave him too many chances, I'm not really sure. But the chances he had, he took them, and played really well and dominated the game.

"Without a doubt [Smith can win the BDO title]. If he keeps playing like that you'll have to play really, really well to beat him. Whoever gets him in the next round has to be on top of their game.
