Forget Euro 2016, there is a World Cup to win and England are among the favourites to win the tournament, which you can watch live on Sky Sports.

Frankfurt is the venue for the sixth hosting of the World Cup of Darts and for the fifth year running, Germany are the hosts for what promises to be a memorable four days of tungsten.

And rather than every man for himself, Premier League winner Michael van Gerwen, 16-time world champion Phil Taylor and reigning world champion Gary Anderson will be teaming up with a fellow countryman in the hope of walking off with the trophy and the title on Sunday night.

The favourites, the surprise names - all you need to know

Just like its football, rugby and cricket equivalents, some of the lesser-known nations will hope to take their chance to shine and perhaps cause a similar stir to Spain, Gibraltar and South Africa, who down the years have caused the giants of the darting world a problem or two.

England are the defending champions and have won three of the previous five events. On all three occasions, it has been Taylor teaming up with Adrian Lewis and the pair will be together again in Germany this week.

The Netherlands are the only other team to have claimed the title of world champions, winning the first-ever staging in 2010 when Raymond van Barneveld teamed up with Co Stompe for a memorable triumph and then in 2014, when Barney and MVG teamed up to beat England.

Wales, Australia, Belgium and Scotland are the other nations to have reached the final and all will fancy their chances of another strong showing this year, while fourth seeds Northern Ireland are not to be underestimated with Brendan Dolan and Daryl Gurney representing them.
