Premier League Darts heads to Glasgow for Peter Wright's homecoming party
Peter Wright heads home to Scotland as UK Open champion
Friday 10 March 2017 20:57, UK
Fresh from winning his maiden television title, Peter Wright takes on James Wade for his homecoming Premier League party at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, while Michael van Gerwen returns from injury, live on Sky Sports 3 HD from 7pm on Thursday.
A tearful Wright ended his long wait for a TV title, defeating Gerwyn Price 11-6 to win the UK Open at the Butlins Minehead Resort in Somerset on Sunday.
And 'Snakebite' will look to follow up that career-defining win with victory over Wade when the Premier League crosses the border for the first time this season.
Wright, who recorded the second highest televised average in history with a thrilling 7-2 defeat of Adrian Lewis in Exeter, last week joined Phil Taylor at the top of the table.
He will be aiming to maintain his supreme form when he goes up against 'The Machine' in a fascinating tungsten tussle.
Scotland's two-time back-to-back World Champion Gary Anderson is sure to be greeted with cheers as he takes on Dave Chisnall, who won both his matches last week to give him a much-needed lift.
"Last Thursday was a great night for me and I think this will be a good game," Chisnall told the official PDC website. "You know Gary's going to turn up so I've got to make sure I turn up too.
"There's still a long way to go and I've got the top three to play, starting with Gary this week. I've played Gary in Glasgow before and I loved it - it's the best venue I've played at and I'll look forward to it."
Also, an all-Dutch clash sees bottom-of-the-table Jelle Klaasen play Raymond van Barneveld in a repeat of the 2006 Lakeside final, while world No 1 Michael van Gerwen returns from a back injury which forced him to miss out on the trips to Exeter and the UK Open at the weekend, with some catching up to do.
The Dutch ace comes up against Belgium's Kim Huybrechts while Adrian Lewis takes on Phil Taylor in their all-Stoke battle.
