Martin 'Wolfie' Adams eliminated from BDO Championship

FRIMLEY, ENGLAND - JANUARY 10: Martin Adams of England in action during his semi final match against Glen Durrant of England during the BDO Lakeside World

Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams fell at the first hurdle in the BDO Championship, losing to Mark McGeeney on Saturday.

Adams was beaten 3-2 in his 25th consecutive year at the Lakeside tournament, on its opening afternoon.

McGeeney, the No 2 seed, won the deciding set in a sudden-death leg.

Three-time BDO champion Adams, 61, forced a fifth set with a 65 checkout but never had a dart to win the match.

McGeeney recovered from missing double 16 for the match to claim the winner-takes-all 11th leg of the final set.

Elsewhere, 2015 champion Scott Mitchell persevered in a shoot-out to beat Darius Labanauskas 3-2.

Danny Noppert won 3-0 against Joe Chaney.
