Rob Cross v Gary Anderson
Talking point
Third against fourth, and both players are playing twice on Wednesday. Anderson’s progress has been quiet in the past few weeks but he could finish the night level on points with first-placed MVG. Anderson has a 5-1 head-to-head advantage but Cross won their PL meeting earlier this year.
Peter Wright v Michael van Gerwen
Talking point
Wright is rock-bottom, 10 points behind top-of-the-table MVG. Wright took one win out of two matches last week which isn’t enough, unless he beats MVG. Snakebite, however, did win their PL meeting in February in a rare highlight for his season.
Raymond van Barneveld v Simon Whitlock

Dutch darts master Barney showed his brilliant best in front of his home crowd
Talking point
Whitlock has dropped out of the top four after a brilliant start to the year. He is a point ahead of Barney, whose popularity in Rotterdam should be a highlight of Wednesday. Last year in his home nation, Barney thrashed Anderson 7-2. He needs a similar burst to keep his play-off hopes alive.
Rob Cross v Daryl Gurney
Talking point
Gurney is Wayne Mardle’s dark horse to lift the trophy. He is a point adrift of the play-offs, but unbeaten in six. Much depends on how Cross fares with two matches in the same night, and how these PL debutants cope with the Rotterdam experience.
Michael Smith v Gary Anderson
Talking point
Their friendship is no secret, which could sway the result. Second-placed Smith has been the revelation of the year but could be overtaken by his mentor, if Anderson wins twice on Wednesday. A serious test of Smith’s mettle but we’ve said that before, and he continues to pass tests.
