Former world champions Raymond van Barneveld and Peter Wright were knocked out in round one of the German Darts Grand Prix.

Van Barneveld was the first of the two to fall with a 6-4 loss to Marcel Hausotter in Munich, while Wright then suffered a 6-3 defeat to Kim Huybrechts.

Gian van Veen and fellow Dutchman Michael van Gerwen, the top two seeds, will take to the oche in round two on Sunday, alongside fellow Premier League stars Jonny Clayton and Josh Rock.

The event, which concludes on Easter Monday, has a 48-player field and a top prize of £35,000.
