Wade was visibly unsettled on the oche during his defeat to Colin Osborne on Tuesday, and immediately flew back to the UK for help with his well-documented issues.

The world number three was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, clinical depression and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder when he was admitted to The Priory Clinic in 2010.

Plenty of fans sent in messages of concern about Wade after his display in Dublin, and he has released a statement to thank them and to insist he is continuing to get help for his problems.

"I want to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to all of my fans and everyone who has supported me, especially since Tuesday," said Wade in a statement released by his management company Modus Darts.

"I am home now and getting the right help so I can focus on getting myself right for the remainder of the season."

PDC Chairman Barry Hearn has also given his support to the seven-time major winner.

"The most important thing for James is that he gets his health right and we echo the sentiments of darts fans everywhere at this difficult time for him," said Hearn.

"James is one of the brightest talents in darts with a long career ahead of him and our thoughts and best wishes are with him as he gets himself on the road to recovery."
