Sky Bet predict the best bets ahead of Week Three in the Premier League Darts
Wednesday 25 February 2015 13:25, UK
The Premier League Darts circuit moves on to Liverpool this week, and Sky Bet trader Andrew Bell has picked out the best bets for the night in store.
James Wade v Dave Chisnall
James Wade gained his first win back in the Premier League last week with an impressive 7-2 victory over Kim Huybrechts, averaging 104, and he looks ready to make a statement in this year's tournament after missing out last season.
Dave Chisnall has started off with two wins from two but Thursday is his first real test as previous opponents Peter Wright and Raymond van Barneveld are both in poor form, with neither playing anywhere near to their best against him.
If Wade plays at the standard he has done the last two weeks he can inflict Chisnall's first defeat of the season.
And with Wade throwing first, he can put pressure on 'Chizzy' straight from the off - at least one break of throw should see him win by more than two legs. Back 'The Machine' to win by 2.5 on the handicap at 13/8 with Sky Bet.
Peter Wright v Raymond van Barneveld
This is an early basement battle as two players without a win go head-to-head. Wright has only won two legs in this year's Premier League so he needs to put in a much-improved performance this week to get a result, otherwise he's going to be a strong favourite to be relegated come week nine.
'Barney' could do very little about the first week's defeat as Adrian Lewis turned up in scintillating form, averaging 113, but last week the Dutchman was disappointing as he threw away the chance for a draw against a pretty average Chisnall.
Something has to give, or so you'd think. Neither will want to lose and both will be confident of getting a result knowing the other is struggling. I think this could go all the way, back the 6-6 draw (7/2 Sky Bet) or over 11.5 legs (6/5 Sky Bet).
Phil Taylor v Stephen Bunting
Phil Taylor, despite a loss in the first week to current world champion Gary Anderson, has made an impressive start. He lost 7-5 to Anderson but averaged 104.7 and then last week took out that frustration on Lewis, beating him 7-2 and averaging 108.
Stephen Bunting has had a rather tough introduction to the Premier League - after this week he will have faced Wade, Michael van Gerwen and Taylor. He battled well to get a draw against Wade and didn’t disgrace himself against MVG, despite losing 7-3.
Regardless of Bunting's decent start, Taylor should prove too strong for the former BDO world champion. There isn't much value in the match betting, though, but pay attention to the 180 markets. Neither man is really classed as a big hitter when it comes to the 180s, but both are more than capable. As long as Taylor doesn’t run away with the game they could go over the quote of 5.5 (10/11 with Sky Bet).
Michael van Gerwen v Gary Anderson
This is without doubt the game of the evening. Both are in incredible form and, if the weekend's final of the European Tour is anything to go by, we are in for a thriller here.
For those who didn’t have the privilege of witnessing the game in Germany, Van Gerwen finished with a 117.94 average, hit four 180s with checkouts of 151 and 167 in the 6-2 defeat of the current world champion.
They were level after two legs and both were playing as though they couldn’t miss their intended targets, but it was MVG who turned on the afterburners to win the next four legs.
Hopefully both players can repeat that performance for the Liverpool crowd and in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
It's very tough to call which way this game is going to go. Both players are on top form and both have two wins from two in the league. Perhaps go for Sky Bet's 5/6 on the highest checkout score to be over 120.5, then sit back and enjoy the game. Anderson's doubles are red hot at the minute and, when MVG’s in the zone, he can checkout whatever he wants.
Adrian Lewis v Kim Huybrechts
Huybrechts is another who has had a tough start to his first Premier League season, having already faced Van Gerwen, Wade and now Lewis. He hasn’t fared badly in any of those, despite what the scorelines may suggest.
Lewis has had two indifferent weeks. He was sublime in Week One, beating 'Barney' 7-1, but was comfortably beaten by Taylor last time out.
Although 'Kimmy' has yet to show his ability to hit the maximums, he is more than capable. Now we are into the third week the nerves will have settled a little and he may be able to relax and hit the trebles.
It goes without saying that Lewis is one of the biggest 180 throwers in the game and if Huybrechts provides his share then Lewis will take it over the quota. Back over 6.5 180s (1/1 with Sky Bet).
